El Salvador: AIDS worker in danger

AI is concerned for the safety of Wilfredo Valencia Palacios, Deputy Director of the Oscar Romero AIDS Project in El Salvador. He has reportedly received death threats in October and November 1994. On 29 October he was allegedly beaten up and threatened by two men and again, on 5 November, he was approached by two men who questioned him about distributing condoms. When one of the men made a movement as if to take something from his jacket, Wilfredo Valencia Palacios ran away. His escape was followed by a number of gunshots.
