This document consists of the text of a memorandum, in English and Spanish, sent by Amnesty International to the Government of El Salvador, to the Frente Farabundo Marti para la Liberacion Nacional (FMLN) and to the Comision de la Verdad (Commission of Truth). The memorandum includes a number of comments and suggestions regarding the role of the Commission, set up, as a result of the recent peace agreements between the Government and the FMLN, to investigate certain human rights violations committed since 1980. The document also gives information about the creation of the Commission and its mandate and summarizes AI's main recommendations.
