More than 2,600 oil and gas wells have been drilled on Lubicon Cree land in Canada. This intensive development has taken place against the wishes of the Lubicon people and has had tragic consequences for their society and livelihoods. In this document Amnesty International urges the Canadian authorities to find a just resolution to the land dispute and to agree that no new development activity should be permitted on Lubicon land except with the informed consent of the Lubicon Cree.
