Bolivia: A summary of Amnesty International’s concerns related to the Bolivian Government’s implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights

This document summarizes Amnesty International’s concerns about the human rights situation in Bolivia. Such concerns include the extrajudicial execution of Felipe Perez Ortiz and Juan Domingo Peralta Espinoza by members of the security forces; allegations of torture and ill-treatment of Maria Raquel Gutierrez Aguilar and Alvaro Garcia Linera, and trade unionists Crisologo Mendoza and Modesto Condori; mass arrest and torture of participants attending a conference of coca-leaf growers; fair trial concerns of political prisoners; and recent cases of attacks on and harassment of human rights defenders Waldo Albarracin and Juan del Granado.
