AI is concerned about the resurgence of violence against journalists in Argentina in 1993. Attacks, death threats and other forms of intimidation increased in the months before the October parliamentary elections: between March and September 1993 the Argentine Press Workers Federation submitted to the Ministry of the Interior a list of over 100 incidents of threats and violence against journalists. Among those attacked were Hernan Lopez Echague, a reporter on the Buenos Aires daily Pagina 12; cameramen Alberto Albo and Hugo Fazio; assistant cameraman Miguel Garcia;and TV reporters Sandra Jacobson and Claudio Perez. A partial list of attacks and threats against journalists from September 1992 to November 1993 is appended.
