The right to freedom of expression is under attack in Sudan. Journalists are regularly arrested and detained for carrying out their work. Some have been tortured, tried on politically motivated charges and imprisoned as prisoners of conscience. The government must reform the laws and procedures that impose undue restrictions on freedom of expression in violation of Sudan’s international human rights obligations and commitments.
