This document considers cases of serious crimes under international human rights and humanitarian law committed in Darfur and elsewhere in Sudan, for which there has been no accountability. Amnesty International hopes that it will prompt action to challenge the climate of impunity in Sudan, which can lay the foundations for full reparations to victims, justice and durable peace in the whole country. Amnesty International is calling on the UN Security Council to pursue its commitment to uphold justice in Sudan. Amnesty International is also calling on the Sudanese government and the SPLM/A to adopt, with the support of the international community, mechanisms to account for the grave crimes committed in the past 21 years in Sudan.
