The continuing conflict between the Ethiopian-backed Transitional Federal Government and clan-based insurgents has resulted in widespread insecurity and severe restrictions on freedom of expression in Somalia. The recent attacks on journalists and the media appear to be part of a systematic attempt by all parties to the conflict to restrict freedom of expression. This document outlines the attacks and threats that journalists in Somalia have faced.
