In April 1994, Rwanda suffered one hundred days of violence, targeted at the Tutsi and moderate Hutu population. Sexual violence against women and girls constituted a central part of the genocidal strategy. This report discusses the repercussions of the violence in particular the spread and treatment of HIV/AIDS, medical care for survivors, and the prosecutions of suspected perpetrators of sexual violence.
