Communities in the Niger Delta frequently do not have access to even basic information about the impact the oil industry has on their lives. This lack of information feeds fears and insecurities within communities, contributes to conflict and fundamentally undermines human rights. In this open letter non-governmental organisations, including Amnesty International, call on the new Chief Executive of Shell to provide information such as all of Shell’s Environmental Impact Assessments for the Niger Delta and a list of all oil spills not yet fully remediated.
