People living in the oil producing areas of the Niger Delta have to drink, cook with, and wash in polluted water; they eat fish contaminated with toxins; and the land they use for farming is being destroyed. In this document Amnesty International urges the Nigerian authorities and the companies involved to take action to clean up pollution, to assess the impact of the oil industry on the human rights of those living in the Niger Delta and to ensure effective regulation of the oil industry.
