AI has learned of six death sentences for armed robbery and has received confirmation of six executions carried out in August and September 1991. The six men under sentence of death are: Nelson Aliba, Imo State, Sabastine Ojukwu, Anambra State and Monday Okonkwo, Obika Ozoji, Anselem Nzekwe and Romanus Obasi Aniwere, all from Enugu State. Five men were executed by firing squad at a military camp in Ibadan, Oyo State, in August 1991. They were: Kayode Erinso, Danladi Mohammed, Sanni Musa, Taiwo Odunuga and Victor Omojan.
