Mali: Civilians bear the brunt of the conflict

Nine months after the armed uprising that tipped Mali into instability, civilians continue suffer the actions of armed groups. Whilst armed hostilities may resume at any moment, it is vital that the parties involved ensure the protection of civilians in strict compliance with international humanitarian law. Amnesty International calls upon the armed Islamist groups to put an end to all forms of corporal punishment, violence against women and the recruitment of child soldiers.
