Reverend Peter Kaleso, Presbyterian minister and opposition activist, was released on bail on 2 February 1993 after being charged with “uttering words abusive to the president” at an opposition rally. If convicted, he could be imprisoned for up to three years on this charge. He was not ill- treated.
