Guinea-Bissau: Human rights violations since the armed conflict ended in May 1999

The civil war that shook Guinea-Bissau left a legacy of insecurity and instability which has undermined respect for human rights. Reconciliation has not yet been achieved and the country has yet to be rebuilt. This report notes measures taken by the authorities to improve the situation and makes suggestions to the government and the international community to improve protection and respect for human rights.
