Poppon Mudugu was released by the Burundian Intelligence Services on 3 August. Isidore Rufyikiri, a lawyer, was arrested on 3 August. Along with the other six detainees (Alphonse-Marie Kadege, Damien Ndarisigaranye, Déo Niyonzima, Alain Mugabarabona, Prudence Manirakiza and Anicet Niyongabo) he has been accused of involvement in a coup plot to overthrow the government of Burundi. The seven detainees are reportedly detained at the Intelligence Services Headquarters in the capital, Bujumbura. They remain at risk of torture or other ill-treatment.
