Beijing+15: Realizing women’s rights

In September 1995, 189 UN member states adopted the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BDPfA). This was a statement of political commitment to ensure the full implementation of the human rights of women and girls. As shown in this document, Amnesty International’s focus areas for the Beijing+15 review of the implementation of the BDPfA are the need to create a consolidated UN women’s entity, to remove obstacles to justice for survivors of sexual violence, and to fulfil the rights of critical concern to reducing maternal deaths improving maternal health.
