Amnesty International’s Salil Shetty visits Spain

Amnesty International’s Secretary General Salil Shetty is in Spain between 12 and 15 March 2012 where he will present a human rights agenda for the new Spanish government.

Salil Shetty will meet members of the government, parliamentary groups of the Congress, the judiciary, representatives of civil society and victims of human rights violations. The main purpose of his visit is to seek the commitment of the new Spanish government to a new and ambitious human rights strategy that addresses also the situation of the economic crisis in the country. At the end of his visit, Amnesty International’s Secretary General will present the results of his meetings to Spanish and international media at a press conference in Madrid.
