SINGAPORE Iwuchukwu Amara Tochi (m), aged 21, Nigerian citizen

Okele Nelson Malachy (m) aged 35, reportedly from South Africa

Iwuchukwu Amara Tochi and Okele Nelson Malachy were hanged on 26 January at 6am, at Singapore’s Changi Prison.

Okele Malachy's execution date had not been reported and it was expected to be announced at a future date.

The two men were executed despite appeals from the Nigerian government and the UN Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, calling on the Singaporean government not to proceed with Tochi's execution. The UN Special Rapporteur stated that Tochi's trial did not ensure the fundamental human right to presumption of innocence.

No further action is requested from the UA network. Many thanks to all who sent appeals.
