The date of Li Jianhui's trial was reportedly changed after pressure was put on his lawyers not to plead ''not guilty'', they were told that they could only ask for leniency. Reports also say that 9 Hong Kong journalists who tried to cover the trial were detained.

Liu Tao		Guangdong		11/99			Assigned to 3 years' ''re-education-through-labour''	Reportedly detained after police confiscated materials her brought back from a trip to India in August 1999. He subsequently travelled to Beijing several times to appeal and was detained on three occasions. His parents have repeatedly requested the original copy of the sentence, without success.

HAINAN PROVINCE

Appeal rejected on 30/11/99 by the Haikou High People's Court.

Reportedly received a lesser sentence for showing "sincere remorse''. Appeal rejected on 30/11/99 by the Haikou High People's Court.

Xinyang City Shihe District People's Court	"using an heretical organization to undermine the implementation of the law"	4 years' imprisonment	Lin Chengjun, Zhang Xianfang and Zheng Min were accused of practising Falun Gong since 1995 and of promoting and distributing information. They reportedly continued to do this after the organization was banned and of attendingillegal gatherings.

They had been in a large group of practitioners who travelled to Beijing to try to deliver an open letter to the government appealing for detained practitioners.
Wang Junhua, f, 27	State official of the Bureau of Raising Poultry and member of Political Consultative Conference of Mishan City	Mishan C, Heilongjiang	24/09/99				Assigned to 3 years' ''re-education-through-labour'' in December 1999	Wang Junhua was first detained 24/09/99 and held for 64 days. She was released but 11 days later was re-detained and reportedly refused to promise that she would not travel to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong practitioners.

Fei Feng's family-appointed lawyer did not turn up at court reportedly saying that his appearance and defence was not worthwhile. The trial was concluded in less than one and a half hours with the judge asking only a few questions. Local and national TV covered the trial. 77 local booksellers in attendance were told they would be heavily fined if they sold Falun Gong books. Detained prior to trial at the First Detention Centre of Changsha.
