Osama Bin Laden killed in Pakistan

US President Barack Obama has today announced that Osama Bin Laden was killed during a US-led operation in Pakistan.

Osama Bin Laden took credit for or supported acts around the world which amounted to crimes against humanity and inspired others to commit grave human rights abuses. His death will put an end to his role in organizing or inspiring such criminal acts,” said Claudio Cordone, Senior Director for Research at Amnesty International.

We do not know the full circumstances of his killing and that of others with him and we are looking into that,” said Claudio Cordone.

Bin Laden was accused of planning and leading a number of mass attacks against civilians, including in New York and Washington in September 2001.
