JEAN LAOKOLE FREED WITH SUSPENDED SENTENCE
Writer and humanitarian worker Jean Laokole was released on 19 August after receiving a three-year suspended prison sentence from the N’Djamena High Court. His lawyer appealed against the decision the same day.
Jean Laokole had been arrested on 22 March by a group of men in civilian clothes while he was with family members in his car in the Atrone suburb of the Chadian capital, N’Djamena.
