The more than 3,000 refugees from Liberia on board the Bulk Challenge have been allowed off the freighter in the Ghanaian port of Takoradi and their situation is under review by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The Ghanaian government made the decision after much international pressure and offers of assistance from the international community.

Amnesty International continues to take action on this situation, but at present no further appeals from the Urgent Action Network are requested. Thank you to all who sent appeals.
