Rob Freer – USA Researcher, Amnesty International
Rob Freer is a researcher working on human rights issues in the US. Since 1999, Rob has produced dozens of reports and analysis pieces regarding human rights abuses committed in the context of the “war on terror”, particularly at the US detention centre in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.

Angela Wright – USA Researcher, Amnesty International
Angela Wright joined AI in the 1980’s to conduct research on human rights abuses committed across the US, particularly cases of police brutality and prison conditions. More recently, Angela has worked on research and analysis regarding human rights violations committed by the US government in the context of the “war on terror”, particularly in Guantánamo.

Sharon Critoph – US Campaigner, Amnesty International

Sharon Critoph is responsible for Amnesty International’s campaign work to end human rights violations in the US and in the context of the “war on terror”. In this capacity, Sharon has met a number of ex Guantánamo detainees. She has travelled to Yemen to meet a former Guantánamo detainee and a number of other men who had been victims of extraordinary renditions.

Claudio Cordone – Senior Director for Research and Regional Programmes, Amnesty International
A lawyer, Claudio Cordone joined AI in 1985 as a researcher on the Middle East, rising to become Director of AI's main policy unit (1994-2002), Senior Director, International Law and Organizations (2002-2004) and Senior Director for Research and Regional Programmes in 2004. Between 1997 and 1998 he took a leave of absence from AI to set up the Human Rights Office of the UN Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he was in charge of conducting human rights investigations as part of the UN program of police reform in the country. Claudio has taken responsibility for AI’s work in relation to human rights violations committed in the context of the “war on terror”, particularly in the US detention centre at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.

Anne FitzGerald – Senior Adviser, Amnesty International
Anne FitzGerald has been investigating the US program of rendition and secret detentions since 2004.  Anne has carried out research into the structure and operation of the rendition system, and has travelled to Yemen and other countries in the region, as well as to Europe and the US, to interview detainees who have been rendered or forcibly disappeared, judicial officials, lawyers, government officials, and former and serving military and police officers.  Anne has testified on rendition and secret detention before parliamentary intelligence committees and the European Parliament.

Ian Seiderman – Senior Legal Advisor, Amnesty International
Ian Seiderman is AI’s Senior Legal Adviser in the International Law and Organizations Program. He provides legal advice on international human rights law and international humanitarian law, covering areas relevant to the "war on terror", including torture and other ill-treatment, arbitrary detention, rendition, and fair trials. Between 2000 and 2005, Ian was a Legal Adviser at the Geneva-based International Commission of Jurists. Between 1994 and 1997, he served as assistant to the Special Rapporteur on Torture of the UN Commission on Human Rights, Sir Nigel Rodley.

Nicole Choueiry – Middle East Press Officer, Amnesty International
As the Middle East Press Officer, Nicole Choueiry has been heavily involved in AI’s work to denounce and end human rights violations committed in the context of the “war on terror”, particularly at the US detention centre in Guantánamo.

Javier Zuñiga – Senior Advisor, Amnesty International
Javier Zuñiga joined AI in the 1970’s to lead the organization’s research work on the Americas region. Since then, he has specialized in cross-regional and international analysis of human rights issues, including in the context of the “war on terror”.

Lamri Chirouf - Researcher in the Middle East Programme of Amnesty International.
Lamri Chirouf has worked extensively on human rights concerns in the Middle East, including human rights violations such as arbitrary arrests, torture, and extra-judicial killings committed in the context of the "war on terror" in the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula. He played a prominent role in Amnesty International's activities in the Gulf region reasserting the universality of human rights in the wake of the tragic attacks in the US on 11 September 2001 which the organization condemned very strongly.

Camilla Jelbart – Campaign Organizer, 'Counter Terror with Justice', Amnesty International
Camilla Jelbart is part of the team leading Amnesty International’s campaign "Counter Terror with Justice". Since joining the team, in 2007, Camilla has been involved in a number of public actions, including the launch of a book of poems written by current and former Guantánamo detainees. Camilla previously worked with activists at AIUK and ran arts projects for AI in Edinburgh.

Daniel Gorevan -- Campaign Coordinator, 'Counter Terror with Justice', Amnesty International
Daniel Gorevan is responsible for Amnesty International's campaign "Counter Terror with Justice". During his two and a half years working on the campaign, Daniel has focused on Guantánamo, rendition, enforced disappearance and secret detention, and torture in the "war on terror".

Jumana Musa – Advocacy Director for Domestic Human Rights and International Justice, Amnesty International USA
Jumana Musa is a human rights attorney and activist. She is currently the Advocacy Director for Domestic Human Rights and International Justice at Amnesty International USA, where she addresses the domestic and international impact of the Bush administration's counter-terrorism policies on human rights. She was one of the first human rights attorneys allowed to travel to the naval base at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, and serves as Amnesty International's legal observer at military commission proceedings on the base. She has lectured at Georgetown University’s Arab Studies program, teaching a class entitled “Human Rights in the Middle East and North Africa.”
