Azerbaijani journalist Elmar Hüseynov, Amnesty International is
reiterating its call to the Azerbaijani authorities to fulfil their
international and domestic obligations to guarantee the right to
freedom of expression
Amnesty International is calling on the government of Azerbaijan to release immediately and unconditionally two prisoners of conscience, arrested for peacefully exercising their right to freedom of expression.
2006 was a year in which killings of reporters and media staff reached historic levels. All of society pays the price when journalists are killed with impunity and censorship and fear stifle expression.
