Tunisia: 10 years on, victims are still awaiting justice

Ten years after Tunisia’s revolution succeeded in ending the iron-fisted rule of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, victims continue to face an uphill struggle in their quest for justice and reparation for the unlawful and excessive use of force and other grave human rights violations committed between 17 December 2010 and 14 January 2011, when President Ben Ali relinquished power and fled Tunisia. Since 2011, attempts to hold those responsible for unlawful killings of protesters to account have failed to deliver justice for the victims and their families.
