Burundi: Refugee Rights at Risk : Human Rights Abuses in Returns to and from Burundi

In this report Amnesty International expresses its concern that protection and assistance for Burundian and other refugees in Tanzania are eroding and that refugees are feeling undue pressure to repatriate before their countries of origin have undergone fundamental changes. Amnesty International’s concerns regarding the repatriation process focus on four main areas: the actual availability of relevant information to decision makers, the objectivity of information available to refugees, freedom of decision making and actual “voluntariness” of repatriation, and the conditions of reintegration and persisting human rights concerns.
