Tunisia: Fear of torture / ill-treatment and legal concern: Mehdi Jarrar
Mehdi Jarrar has been held incommunicado since his reported arrest on 29 or 30 March 1995, beyond the 10 day maximum permitted under Tunisian law. AI fears that he is at risk of torture or ill-treatment in incommunicado detention. Mehdi Jarrar, a Tunisian asylum-seeker in France, had been expelled to Tunisia by the Maltese authorities after travelling there in March 1995. Since his arrest, his family have been unable to establish his whereabouts or legal status.
