Saudi Arabia: Anniversary of the arrest of Raif Badawi
On the anniversary of the arrest of Raif Badawi, Amnesty International is writing to the King of Saudi Arabia calling for the immediate and unconditional release of Badawi as he has been detained and charged solely for the legitimate, peaceful exercise of his right to freedom of expression. Raif Badawi, the 29-year-old founder of a website for political and social debate, Saudi Arabian Liberals, has been detained since 17 June 2012 in a prison in Briman, Jeddah.
