AI: 2000 United Nations Commmission on Human Rights-Defending the defenders
The following document decribes the concerns which Amnesty International will raise at the forthcoming session of the UN Comission on Human Rights. Amnesty International is calling on the commission to act this year on China, Federal Republic of Yugoslavia(FRY)/Kosovo, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Sierra Leone where human rights abuses have been persistent and widespread. The commission is also focusing on thematic issues such as the death penalty and child soldiers.
