Kyrgyzstan: Vasily Skvortsov
An unofficial report states that Vasily Skvortsov was sentenced to death on 9 June 1994 for premeditated, aggravated murder. His appeal has apparently been rejected, which means that his only hope of avoiding execution is to lodge a petition for clemency with the President of Kyrgyzstan. Vasily Skvortsov is 21 years old. He suffers from mental handicap and has been under medical supervision since 1983. It is also reported that during the court's final session, at which the death sentence was announced, Vasily Skvortsov was left without legal representation. This is a violation of Kyrgyz legislation.
