Republic of Lithuania: Boris Dekanidze
Boris Dekanidze, a 32-year-old stateless man of Georgian origin, was sentenced to death by the Lithuanian Supreme Court on 10 November 1994. He was convicted of ordering the murder of a journalist who had been investigating his activities as the alleged leader of a mafia gang. Boris Dekanidze has maintained his innocence throughout. The Supreme Court is to begin reexamining his case on 1 January 1995.
