Turkey: Fear of torture: Ismet Celikaslan (f)
AI fears that the above, Mersin Provincial Board member of HADEP (People's Democracy Party), who has been held incommunicado since 27 September 1995, may be tortured. She had recently appeared on a Kurdish owned and operated TV satellite channel which broadcasts outside Turkey, presenting the case of her daughter, Leman Celikaslan, who alleged that she was raped during 13 days in custody in Ankara in July. Following her TV appearance police came to her home and asked her to accompany them to Police Headquarters. Her lawyer was later told that she was being held under the Anti-Terror Law.
