Luxembourg: Prolonged isolation
AI has learned that Satko Adrovic was placed in isolation in Schrassig prison on 3 December 1993 as a punishment for attempting to escape. He is not due to be relased from solitary confinement until 3 June 1994. He previously spent a period of eight and a half months in solitary confinement as result of a previous attempt to escape. AI is concerned that prolonged isolation may have serious effects on the mental and physical health of a prisoner.
