Germany: Briefing to the UN Committee against Torture, October 2011

This briefing is submitted to the Committee against Torture (hereafter the Committee) and details Amnesty International’s concerns. These concerns include the lack of a comprehensive definition of torture in the German Criminal Code; alleged involvement in US-led rendition and secret detention programmes; interrogations conducted in foreign countries; accountability; non-refoulement and forcible return; and the right to remedy.
