Cyprus: Further information on imprisonment of conscientious objectors Sotiris Kyriakou Florentzou and Dimitris Tilavertis
Sotiris Kyriakou Florentzou was sentenced to six months' imprisonment and Dimitris Tilavertis to two months on 10 February 1995. Both have refused, as Jehovah's Witnesses, to perform military service. They are among 18 conscientious objectors currently in prison in Cyprus. As far as AI is aware, all are Jehovah's Witnesses. AI considers both to be prisoners of conscience.
