Cyprus: Imprisonment of conscientious objector Christakis Christophorou
On 20 May 1994 conscientious objector and Jehovah's Witness Christakis Christophorou was sentenced by Nicosia Military Court to three months' imprisonment for refusing to perform military service. When he is released he will probably be called up again, and is likely to face yet a further term of imprisonment upon refusing to perform military service. He is a prisoner of conscience.
