Papua New Guinea: further information on: death penalty: Charles Ombusu
The death sentence against the above was lifted on 2 April 1996, following the overturning of his conviction for wilful murder and rape. He remains in detention pending a decision on a retrial and on whether the two cases should be heard separately.
