China: The plight of Zhang Shanguang and others - "A legal system in tatters".
This document contains the text of a petition letter written by Zhang Shanguang, a prisoner of conscience currently detained in Hunan No.1 prison. The letter details the torture and inhumane working conditions in the prison. In Zhang Shanguang's case it is believed that he has tuberculosis and is being forced to do heavy physical work in fetters, whilst being denied medical attention.
