USA: Supreme Court's ruling - a victory for human rights (WA closing text)
On 29 June 2006, the US Supreme Court ruled that US President George W. Bush had overstepped his authority in ordering Military Commissions trials for foreign nationals held at Guantánamo. The ruling maintained that the proposed commissions violated US law and the Geneva conventions.
