Nicaragua: Open letter to presidential candidates

This open letter to the presidential candidates in the forthcoming general elections in November 2001 outlines Amnesty International’s human rights concerns and calls upon candidates to include these issues in their manifestos. Concerns include the treatment of human rights defenders, torture and ill-treatment and excessive use of force by the police, prison conditions, freedom of expression and the ratification of human rights treaties.
