Mexico: Torture in Mexico: In summary: Stop Torture country briefing
The use of torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment by military and police forces remains widespread throughout Mexico, with impunity rife for the perpetrators. The shortcomings of Mexico’s justice system play a major role in the continuing prevalence of torture and other forms of ill-treatment in the country – and in the persistent culture of impunity.
