Sudan: Further information on prisoner of conscience / fear of torture
Samira Hassan Ali Karrar (f), human rights activist; Widaat Hassan Ali Karrar, her sister: Samira Hassan Ali Karrar was rearrested on 5 February 1997. Her sister, Widaat Hassan Ali Karrar, was arrested on the morning of 6 February 1997. It is believed that they were arrested to prevent a suspected public demonstration from taking place on 6 February 1997. Amnesty International regards both women as prisoners of conscience and is calling for their immediate and unconditional release.
