Nigeria: Joint memorandum on Petrol Industry Bill March 2012
The drafting of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) reflects the most comprehensive review of the legal framework for the oil and gas sector in Nigeria since the industry began commercial operations in the 1960s and could provide an important opportunity to ensure that the social and human rights impacts of the oil industry are adequately addressed. In this Memorandum Amnesty International and 12 Nigerian NGOs outline several important issues which should be included in the Petroleum Industry Bill.
