Nigeria: Human rights in perspective: Amnesty International submission to the UN Universal Periodic Review

In this submission Amnesty International assesses the progress made in the implementation of recommendations accepted by Nigeria in its previous UPR. These recommendations covered reform of the justice system; detention without trial; freedom of expression; and extrajudicial executions. The organization also raises concerns about ongoing human rights abuses by armed groups in northern and central Nigeria, human rights violations by the security forces, enforced disappearances, unlawful detention, LGBTI rights, the death penalty, forced evictions, and oil pollution in the Niger Delta.
