Plans to mine bauxite in the Indian state of
Orissa threaten the very existence of the Dongria Kondh – an indigenous
community that has lived in the area for centuries.
About 75 people have been living in metal cabins and shacks next to a sewage treatment plant in Miercurea Ciuc, Central Romania, since they were evicted from their homes in 2004.
Two prominent campaigners for the dismantlement of the fence/wall in
