Members can become an Online Community Volunteer and offer their skills and leadership in activism and mobilization for an Online Community. Your primary role will be to encourage and support your fellow activists to engage and mobilize for human rights. It is a virtual role, which means that no matter where in the world you are, you can still participate.

There are three main roles where we need activists to take a leadership role:
  1. Online Ambassador: Write blogs, online commentaries and posts that help highlight human rights issues and Amnesty International’s campaigns to a wider audience.

You can also choose to be an Online Ambassador specifically for our Demand Dignity campaign and become a Voice Ambassador. As a Voice Ambassador, you will highlight the link between poverty and human rights.
  2. Moderator: Engage with activists in Amnesty International social networking spaces, engage in conversation and make sure the debate stays respectful and constructive.
  3. Greeter: Engage with activists in Amnesty International social networking spaces and support fellow activists by answering their questions and welcoming them to the Online Community.
We are also looking for people interested in responding to calls to organize events in their local community and act as translators for the community.

We ask all our online community volunteers to adhere to a simple code of conduct that helps us to keep our Online Communities strong and vibrant.

Please contact online.communities@amnesty.org highlighting which role you have in mind and we’ll get back to you.

7. How can I report a human rights violation to Amnesty International?

You could either put down your information in an email or send us a letter. If it does not jeopardise your safety, we would absolutely prefer that you include your details such as name, age, address etc. and do let us know if you are willing to be contacted.

Due to the volume of such complaints and reports we are unable to reply to every message we receive, but be sure that your email or letter will be forwarded to the relevant research team.

Please keep in mind that we receive several reports every day and due to capacity constraints we simply cannot investigate all cases.
