Myanmar: Exodus from the Shan State

This report examines how civilians in the central Shan State are suffering the consequences of internal armed conflict. The vast majority of affected people are rice farmers who have been deprived of their lands and their livelihoods. Over 100,000 civilians have fled to neighbouring Thailand, where they work as day labourers, risking arrest for “illegal immigration” by the Thai authorities.
