Iran: Further information on death penalty / stoning

The eight people included in this action have been sentenced to be stoned to death for the “crime” of “adultery while being married”. According to Iranian law, “adultery while being married” carries a mandatory sentence of execution by stoning. One was executed by hanging on 21 May 2009 in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz, southern Iran.
