57th UN Commission on Human Rights (2001): Statements and press releases issued by Amnesty International

The 57th session of the UN Commission on Human Rights took place from 19March to 27 April 2001. Amnesty International issued four press statements during the session. In addition, Amnesty International delivered five oral statements to the 57th session of the UN Commission on Human Rights, and one joint oral statement with other NGOs. Amnesty International also issued two joint press statements on Chechnya and Togo. Also included in this document is Amnesty International’s background briefing for this year’s session of the UN Commission on Human Rights, as well as two statements by NGOs, which the organization was not able to sponsor, but which AI supports nonetheless.
